Worthing Thunder were comprehensively beaten 75-116 by a strong BBL outfit from London City Royals in the quarter-finals of the BBL Trophy. Thunder started the first quarter competitively and matched the visitors throughout, going into the break behind by just a single point, 18-19. In the second quarter, Royals stepped up the pace and pushed the lead out to 11 points at half time, 37-48. After the break, Royals started to show their superior class and continued to increase their lead, finishing the third quarter comfortably ahead by 15 points. The final session saw Royals stamp their authority on the game to finish convincing winners and progress to the Trophy semi final.
In front of a virtually full house, top scorer and Barkers of Tarring Man of the Match Jorge Ebanks scored 15 points and was ably supported by Ishmael Fontaine with 12 points, Kevin, Tom and Alex all boosted the score with 11 points a-piece.
Thunder are next in action on Saturday 26th January at Worthing Leisure Centre against Leicester Warriors, tip-off 7:30pm, followed on Sunday by the NBL Cup Semi-Final away at Bradford at 4:15pm.
