Worthing Thunder were beaten 70 -88 by a strong and physical side from Solent Kestrels in front of virtually a full house at Worthing Leisure Centre.

Although Thunder were quick to get into a 4-0 lead this was the only time they were ahead in the game. Solent’s inside presence and strong rebounding caused a number of difficulties for the home side.

The home team’s three point shooting was a strength in the early games in the season but the outside shooting just would not find their target in the face of some fierce defending from the visitors

Solent lead at the end of the first quarter 16 -14 and increased their lead to a 21 point margin at the half time break. Thunder came out with more determination in the third quarter cutting the deficit to just 12 points at one stage but ended the third period still trailing by 15 points (65-50).Thunder continued to battle in the last period but the visitors were just too strong under the basket finishing the game with a comfortable 18 point lead.

Thunder are in actin again at home next Saturday 7.30pm when the visitors will be Derby Trailblazers.
