Worthing Thunder progressed to the final of the National Basketball League Play-Offs with a hard-fought victory over a strong and youthful visiting Loughborough Riders. Thunder, keen to retain the silverware they won last year, had to battle all the way to ensure they would be visiting Manchester at the end of April, where they will play Solent Kestrels in the final.
Loughborough appeared to be in command for much of the game, but just like the Trophy final between these two sides earlier in the year, a devastating last quarter; which Thunder won 24-10, saw Worthing home to a victory; despite some last minute nerves.
Alex Owumi was MVP with 29 points (8 from outside the arc) and 4 rebounds. It was his 3-point shooting in the last quarter which broke the game open and finally killed off any challenge from the visitors.
Zaire Taylor and Jorge Ebanks scored 28 points and 15 points respectively.
The Play-Off Final will be held in Manchester on Sunday 28th April 2019 and any fans who wish to travel on the Supporters’ Club coach should contact the club on firstname.lastname@example.org
