Thunder win season opener on the road.

Despite missing Tom Ward and Brendan Okoronkwo Thunder cruised to a comprehensive 99 -72 victory over Barking Abbey Crusaders in their first competitive game of the season.

Thunder stormed into an 8 -0 lead and never looked back leading from tip to buzzer.

Leading by 27 – 17 at the break Thunder extended their lead to go in at the break 51 – 40

The visitors continued to pile on the pressure in the second half leading by as many as 34 points at one stage and comfort my saw the game home by a margin of27 points.

Man of the match Nick Lewis scored 32 points with Zaire Taylor and Alex Owumi adding 21 and 24 points respectively.

Thunder are bound to face a more challenging task next Sunday when they welcome Solent to Worthing Leisure Centre where the losers will almost certainly be eliminated from the Trophy competition.

Lions too strong for Thunder.

Worthing Thunder were well-beaten 121-72 by a strong and powerful BBL side, London Lions, in a friendly, in front of a noisy and enthusiastic crowd.

After scoring the opening basket, Thunder were outplayed in the first quarter as Lions broke the game open with a 13 point run, going into the break with a 32-15 lead.

Lions continued to dominate in the second quarter; outscoring Thunder by 38-20 and went into the locker room with a comfortable 70-35 lead.

At the half, Zaire Taylor led Thunder’s scorers with 14 points, whilst Jordon Spencer hit 17 for Lions.

Thunder continued to battle throughout the third quarter and reduced the deficit going into the break, 58-100.

Lions pressed hard in the final quarter to finish the game victorious: 121-72.
