Junior Basketball

In addition to our National League sessions and camps, we also run a number of drop-in basketball sessions for children.

U10 sessions

Ideal for younger children (5-9) just getting started with basketball, your child will have fun learning the fundamentals from our qualified coaches.

Sessions are held at Durrington High School each Tuesday from 5:30 to 6:30pm. You must book in advance as spaces are limited.

U14 / U16 sessions

Held at Oscar Romero school in Goring-by-sea each Friday. For all abilities.

• U14 (9-13) – 5:30 to 6:30
• U16 (13-16) – 6:30 to 7:30

Worthing Thunder regularly run half term and school holiday camps for kids aged 5-16, looking for a fun way to develop their basketball skills. All the major school holidays are covered, including half-terms, Easter, Summer and Christmas camps.

Your son or daughter will be taught by qualified coaches, many of which will be your favourite players from the Men’s team. A great way to learn, make new friends and keep them active and off their screens during the school holidays.

We run regular camps for all abilities, plus Elite camps for those kids playing at the National League level.

• October Half Term Camp – 28th to 30th October
• October Elite Camp – 31st Oct to 1st Nov

Worthing Thunder has a thriving junior basketball programme, with teams competing at Premier and Conference levels in the National League.

For the 2024/25 season, we’ll have teams at:

• U12 Mixed
• U14 Boys
• U16 Boys
• U18 Boys

Fixtures typically run from October to March, with Juniors trials usually held in June. Training sessions are held throughout the week at Durrington High School in Worthing.

We’re proud that each year, many Thunder Juniors get the opportunity to participate in Basketball England’s talent pathway, Aspire.
